P.A.I.N. Workshops – international expert symposia

At the P.A.I.N. Workshops ( www.pain-workshop.com ) international experts discuss and develop interdisciplinary and internationally relevant concepts for the improvement of pain management in routine practice. These concepts are based on decision-making and clinical pathways, which are directly applicable to the needs of patients and doctors.

History of P.A.I.N. Workshops

Since 2002, the P.A.I.N. Initiative has presented 8 P.A.I.N. Workshops in Berlin, Aachen, Salzburg, Rome, Valencia, Montpellier, Basel and Brussels. International experts developed the basic methodology for devising interdisciplinary and internationally valid concepts that continuouslyimprove the quality of pain management .

The decision-based approach has been used for a number of specific indications such as headache, back pain, musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain, psychosomatic and psychosocial aspects of pain, cancer-related pain, age-related pain and pain in palliative care.

The results of the P.A.I.N Workshops are published in Consensus booklets and form the base for clinical decision processes, according to outcome indicators, which are important for a pain patient’s quality of life.
