P.A.I.N. Quality – pain management software

P.A.I.N. Quality is a standardised documentation tool for the management of pain.

Developed by an international advisory board of pain experts, the software meets the specific needs of healthcare professionals and applies quality management principles to daily practice.

Members of the international advisory board:

  • Prof. José Castro-Lopes (Portugal)
  • Dr. Duarte Correia (Portugal)
  • Dr. José De Andrés (Spain)
  • Dr. Zuzana De Jong (Netherlands)
  • Dr. Bart Morlion (Belgium)
  • Dr. Giuliano Piccoliori (Italy)
  • Dr. Wolfgang Sohn (Germany)
  • Prof. Michael Stanton-Hicks (USA)
  • Dr. Ans Vielvoye-Kerkmeer (Netherlands)
  • Dr. Heribert Walch (Austria)

Software concept

P.A.I.N. Quality has been designed for fast and easy documentation. It allows the generation of  medical reports, the analysis of medical treatment and benchmarking.

Structured and standardised data pools are necessary for an appropriate documentation system. Therefore P.A.I.N. Quality focuses on decision-making and problem-solving documentation instead of cost and time orientation .The concept for documentation follows the SOAP methodology13 and is adapted to specific pain needs .

Quality management in daily care

The software offers continuous quality assessment on different levels:

  • Documentation and reporting
  • Individual patient tracking
  • Cross-sectional analysis of patient cohorts
  • International benchmarking and professional ranking

The benchmarking report illustrates the professional ranking within the group of participating centres. Specific cohorts can be defined and benchmarked by indication, sociodemographic factors, risk factors or interventions. Statistical key data from participating centres can be compared in anonymous external ranking to identify best practice.

In addition P.A.I.N. Quality allows the creation of an electronic patient file.

P.A.I.N. Quality’s vision

P.A.I.N. Quality produces a learning environment that guarantees continuous quality improvement. Scientific analysis of routine care data support the development of validated practice-based guidelines.
